The Rebuilding of Drakes Lodge Scout Hut

Thank you to former Upchurch Scout Leader Brian Clarke for sending us these local newspaper article cuttings, written about the demolition of the original wooden Drakes Lodge Scout Hut and the fundraising appeal that lead to the construction of the current brick building.

The fundraising committee at the time included: Jim Harman, Keith Rossiter, Angela Williams, Tania Harrison, John Richardson, Keith and Philippa Reilly, Brian himself, and a few others who were leaders at the time.

Tania and her husband Nigel took on the role of leading the construction work and coordinating the volunteers from the village.
