Upchurch Parish Council Report - September 2017

Report of the Parish Council meeting 14th September 2017

Paddock and Recreation Ground
The large pot hole in the Recreation Ground car park has been repaired and the contractor has done a good job. The bench which has been damaged by the illegal incursion has been repaired.
The safety surfacing under the swing has been replaced. The other safety surfacing needs to be monitored over the coming years and this was flagged up in the annual safety inspection report. There will be an ongoing budget for the maintenance of the play equipment in the Paddock and this will need to be considered when planning the budget for next year.
Councillors have given Upchurch Guides permission to plant bulbs under the trees either side of the Recreation Ground especially the Chaffes Lane side.

Allotments
A notice board has been installed at the allotments and it is anticipated that a new water tap will be installed soon.

Planning
The Parish Council had received a petition from residents requesting the Council withdraw its support to the proposed traffic calming scheme at 116 Oak Lane.
Councillors noted residents’ comments and acknowledged they had met with County Councillor Mike Whiting, the application will go to Swale Planning Committee for a decision.  Councillors have agreed to only support a scheme endorsed by KCC Highways.

The Wallbridge Lane sign at the junction of Oak Lane has been knocked over and this has been reported to Swale Borough Council.
A meeting is to be arranged with KCC to discuss upgrading the street lights to energy efficient LED lights.
