Surgery Patient Participation Group - Upchurch & Rainham
Missed Appointments
As reported last time this is still a major concern with patients not attending appointments and/or informing either their local surgery or the Medway Hospital that they cannot attend.
A total of 82 patients failed to keep appointments during the last month.
(39 were missed at the Medway Hospital and 43 surgery appointments, 9 were at the Upchurch surgery).
If you find you are unable to keep an appointment please give the surgery as much notice as as possible by Telephone: 01634 231423 or the Hospital.
Given the ever increasing demand this may allow your slot to be re-allocated to
another patient.
Bowel Cancer Screening
Patients are still not taking the offer up when they receive the letter/test kit in the post, and those failing to return are increasing monthly.
Can you really afford to ignore such an offer!
It is your health, take care of it.
Prevent before it’s too late.
Purchasing of Minor Drugs (Paracetamol/Ibuprofen etc)
The response from patients has been very positive and a big ‘Thank you’ to all concerned. Please continue to do so. It not only saves time for the doctors and receptionists but also helps in saving money.
Repeat Prescriptions/Register Online with Patient Access
Please do to ask for drugs that you do not need.
Also remember to register with Patient Access online to order your prescriptions and/or make appointments to see a Doctor.

To accommodate staff training on the following dates the normal afternoon surgeries at Upchurch will be replaced by a morning session from 10:00am to 1:00pm.

Upchurch Cricket Club - Charity Cricket Week - Amount Raised and Thank You
The annual Charity Cricket Week in memory of Don Macaulay, and to raise funds for Macmillan Cancer Support Nurses took place the week commencing Monday the 24th of July.
Despite the weather not being great the Charity Cricket Week was a success!
Despite the weather not being great the Charity Cricket Week was a success!
Upchurch lost both games but they were played in great spirit and the scores were very close. For the first time we included a 3 course charity lunch in a marquee on the Wednesday so spectators could enjoy the cricket in style. We catered for 48 people and the day was a huge success.
Thursday was a golfing day at Upchurch River Valley Golf Course which was enjoyed by all who took part.
Our finale on Friday saw the return of the popular band Marylebone Jelly. We had concerns that the weather would put people off but we managed to sell 200 tickets, many to locals from Upchurch, and the rain held off for most of the evening.
We raised a total of £2462.58 which was rounded up to give Macmillan £2500!
We would like to thank everyone who supported the week and special thanks go out to our main sponsor Kent Trade Frames also Shaun and Steve O’Meara Butchers for their donation of meat, and a kind donation from an anonymous source.
