The day has only be marred by some unnecessary vandalism to the toilet block, waiting to be collected on Sunday, but we must not let a negative act overshadow the enjoyment of the day!

Thank You from the Village Fete Committee
The Village Fete Committee would like to give a BIG thank you to everyone that came along on Saturday and helped make the fete a success.
What we lacked in sunshine was more than made up by the popular stalls from our local groups and organisations, an exciting demonstration by Sky Birds of Prey and the excellent music from Holywell School choir, the Rock Choir, The Syncopators Jazz Band and The Lynx. Micky the Magician was on hand to entertain the younger visitors and the guides and brownies did an excellent turn around the maypole. The new climbing wall attraction proved popular with young and old!
The Crown proved themselves with their men’s team winning the tug of war competition and their landlady heading up the winning ladies team.
We were also supported by the PCSO and a local fire crew who entertained the children with target practice using the fire hose!
We cannot hold the fete without the continued support from our sponsors and volunteers. We must therefore thank the following:
• Kent Trade Frames, Upchurch River Valley Golf Course, FCS Car Sales, Gerald Lukehurst & Son Ltd, Gransden Construction Ltd, Ward Cllr Gerry Lewin, Ward Cllr John Wright, KCC Cllr Mike Baldock and Upchurch Parish Council for their financial support.
• Hidsons Group Ltd, The Edith May Thames Barge, The Crown, The BarnYard, Amethyst Horticulture for their donation of prizes.
• Jascom Electrical Contractors Ltd, Countrystyle, Campbell Skips, Zendrill Scaffolding, First Highways, Upchurch Matters, Gabriel, Peter Boakes and Bob Bearup for the donation of various services.
• The Upchurch Scouts for overseeing the parking on the Recreation Ground.
There are 2 other factors that make this day such a success: Without the voluntary services of Dave Neale and Alex Dollimore in hosting the day, providing sound system, keeping us on track and encouraging participation in various activities it would not run so smoothly. And finally, without you the residents and friends coming along to share the day our event would not be so successful in raising funds for all the local organisations.
The day has only be marred by some unnecessary vandalism to the toilet block, waiting to be collected on Sunday, but we must not let a negative act overshadow the enjoyment of the day!
