Upchurch Matters

Thank You from Foodbank Co-ordinator Gill Gay and Swale Foodbank

Dear Upchurch,

You came with your bags of food, and we were humbled by your generosity once again - Thank you. You are taking part in God's work by being his hands and heart here on earth.

We spoke to Richard who collects all your donations from us. He said Swale Foodbank is so busy across the area they cover now that he can spend up to £300 a week buying essentials that the warehouse runs out of because they have so many families that need help. Swale Foodbank usage is up approximately 50%.

Recently, it was reported in the news that 2 million adults go without food for a day each week as they feed their kids first and wait for payday.

We will collect your donations again next month and every month until there are no longer people who are struggling to feed their families and themselves ❤️ 🤗 ❤️

We will be at the bus stop opposite the Church in Horsham Lane on Wednesday the 8th of June between 10:30am and 11:30am.

Bless you, all 😀

And thank you to Elizabeth for receiving the food today.

Gill Gay will be Collecting for Swale Foodbank Again - Plus Pop into the Church for 'A Cuppa and a Chat'

Hi everyone,

Thank you all for the tremendous support we receive on behalf of Swale Foodbank each month.

I will be collecting again at the bus stop opposite the Church in Horsham Lane on Wednesday the 11th of May between 10:30am and 11:30am.

Please come along with your donations - in carrier bags would be helpful, thank you.

Warehouse Coordinator Richard Divers from Forge Lane will then deliver your donations to the Swale Foodbank Warehouse, part of the Trussell Trust.

These are the items they are urgently in need of. And as you can see, they are running short of things they used to have plenty of - such is the greater need they are dealing with now.

■ Jars of Sauces (Pasta, Curry etc)
■ Tins of Meat (for hot dinners - not Cold Meats)
■ Tins of Fish
■ UHT Milk
■ Cereals
■ Tins Tomatoes
■ Tins Spaghetti
■ Tins Fruit
■ Tins Custard
■ Unbelievably... Soups (Tins & Packets)

Of course, all donations are helpful, providing the food is long life and well within date, but I hope this helps in case anyone can donate the above.

For every single donation - we are very grateful ♥️

And while you're there, why not pop into the church for 'A Cuppa and a Chat' in the Lady Chapel.

We will have the kettle on between 10:00am and 12 midday, and again on Wednesday the 25th of May.

A warm welcome awaits you. Just pop in, and we will be happy to see you.
