Temporary Overnight Road Closures - A2 St Michael’s Road, Sittingbourne

Overnight closures of part of A2 St Michael’s Road, Sittingbourne are planned from Monday 3rd December 2018 for up to 4 weekday nights, from 8.00pm through until approximately 5.00am each night.

A2 St Michael’s Road will be closed between the junctions with Dover Street and Crown Quay Lane, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

The alternative routes for through traffic are:

Light vehicles only (note 11’ 9” (3.5 M) height restriction) via B2006 Milton Road, Eurolink Way and Crown Quay Lane.

All other vehicles via A2 Dover Street (A2 St Michael’s Road and West Street in opposite direction), Park Road, Albany Road, Avenue of Remembrance and Bell Road.

The closures are to enable highway improvement works to be carried out as part of the ‘Spirit of Sittingbourne’ town centre regeneration project.

Some delays are likely, especially at busier times, so it is recommended that motorists allow extra time for their journeys or consider using alternative routes during these works.

These works are weather dependent, and if adverse conditions prevent works being fully completed within the planned dates given, the duration may need to be extended or some works re-scheduled.

New Poppy Memorial Seat at the Upchurch Village Sign

Click picture to enlarge.

A new Poppy Memorial Seat to the villagers who lost their lives during the WW1 and WW2 conflicts has been added to the base of the Armistice Day - Remembrance Sunday Poppy Memorial Sleeve, currently wrapped around the Upchurch village sign on the corner of Horsham Lane.

The Memorial Seat was manufactured and fitted by the Boakes family and staff of Boakes Joinery, Upchurch.

The Poppy Seat has written on it:

“They shall grow not old, as we that are
left grow old:
Age shall not weary them,
nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun
and in the morning,
We will remember them.
