Temporary Road Closure - A2 Canterbury Road, Sittingbourne

Kent County Council has made an order to temporarily prohibit through traffic on A2 Canterbury Road, Sittingbourne from Thursday 17th September 2020, between the hours of 20:00 and 05:00 (excluding weekends), with estimated completion by 25th September 2020.

The road will be closed between the junctions with Murston Road and Vincent Road, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.


The alternative route for any through traffic travelling eastbound is via A2 Canterbury Road, East Street, St Michaels Road, Dover Street, West Street, London Road, Key Street, A249 Key Street Roundabout To Bobbing Interchange, Key Street Roundabout, Key Street Slip Southbound On, A249 Maidstone Road, Stockbury Roundabout, M2 Junction 5 To Junction 6 On Slip, M2, M2 Junction 6 From Junction 5 Off Slip, A251 Ashford Road, A2 Canterbury Road and London Road.

The alternative route for traffic travelling westbound is via A2 London Road, Canterbury Road, A251 Ashford Road, M2 Junction 6 to Junction 5 on slip, M2, M2 Junction 5 from Junction 6 off slip, Stockbury Roundabout, A249 Maidstone Road, Key Street Slip Northbound off, Key Street Roundabout, A2 Key Street, London Road, St Michaels Road, East Street and Canterbury Road.


Access for emergency service vehicles and pedestrians will be maintained at all times during the closure.

The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while carriageway resurfacing works are undertaken by Kent County Council.
