Public Meeting with Gordon Henderson at Upchurch Village Hall

Election campaigning continues to be suspended.

Today's public meeting with Gordon Henderson at Upchurch Village Hall has been cancelled.

As the Member of Parliament for Sittingbourne and Sheppey for the past 7 years, Gordon Henderson would like to give local people a chance to question him.

He does not think this can be done properly at a joint meeting with other candidates, so he took the decision not to take part in those meetings. Instead he will hold public meetings at venues across the constituency.

Upchurch voters of all ages will get their chance to put questions to Gordon at a public meeting held in Upchurch Village Hall on Wednesday the 24th of May at 7:30pm.

Upchurch Cricket Club - Associate Members Club

Upchurch Cricket Club has enjoyed some success over recent years and has finally managed to clear all debts incurred during the building and modernisation of the Pavilion. The club has expanded and now enjoys 5 senior cricket teams and 4 colts teams.

We have also incorporated a very successful colts football section that has a number of teams of various ages, bringing the children through the ranks. The idea being they will eventually be available for selection into one of our 2 present senior teams, who enjoy playing on one of the best pitches in the area.

We are always welcoming to new players for any of our cricket or football teams.

We would also like to incorporate an Associate Members Club for non-playing people who wish to use the facilities available.

The advantage to this would be FREE use of the bar, reduced priced drinks and special rates on the hire of the club for private parties.

For more information on Associate Membership etc, please contact:

Village in Bloom

A few villagers have suggested that some effort could be put into arranging special areas around the village that could be planted up to make the village more attractive.

Suggestions are some form of planters at the entrances to the village, planted up with plants according to the season.

The Parish Council have been approached and have left it to the people concerned to come up with suggestions as to what is required, then they will check out legalities etc. We would also like to think that they may make some form of financial support to the idea.

Meanwhile we would like to invite any of the village organisations that would like to get involved in this project by way of sponsoring it, or get involved in the idea to contact either.
