Historical Research Group of Sittingbourne Presents The Train That Jumped the Gap


















































Join speaker Richard Emmett at the Avenue Theatre, Sittingbourne, on Wednesday the 15th of November 2023 at 7:00pm (or by Zoom) for the HRGS AGM and from 8:00pm, listen to Richard's illustrated story behind the Doodlebug that demolished the railway bridge in Oak Lane, Upchurch on Wednesday the 16th of August 1944, and the recollections of those who saw it.

Temporary Road Closure - Oak Lane, Upchurch










































It will be necessary to close part of Oak Lane, Upchurch from Thursday 9th November 2023, for up to 1 day, between the hours of 08:00 and 12:00.

The road will be closed in the vicinity of the junction with Chaffes Lane, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

The alternative route is via A2 London Road, Moor Street, Otterham Quay Lane, Horsham Lane and vice versa.

Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.

The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while installation works are undertaken by SGN.

It will be necessary to close part of Wallbridge Lane, Upchurch from Tuesday 3rd November 2023, for up to one day, between the hours of 09:30 and 15:30.

The road will be closed in the vicinity of number 101, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

The alternative route is via Oak Lane, Horsham Lane and vice versa.

Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.

The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while overhead cabling works are undertaken by Openreach.
