POSTPONED - Newington History Group

We're so sorry but we have to postpone Dave Meredith's talk this month on Newington Nostalgia.

In the last few days, it's become apparent that many more people are expected than the Methodist Hall can hold and we've tried in vain to get a suitable alternative venue. We're sorry to disappoint the many people who are looking forward to hearing Dave's memories and sharing their own but safety must come first.

There are so many people who lived in the village in the 50s and 60s who've said they'd like to come - when it happens, it's going to be quite a historic occasion!

If you know of anyone who was planning to be at the meeting on Thursday (March 12th), could you let them know about the postponement and we'll contact everyone once the new date is set.

Linda Garrett is Running The Saxon Shore Half Marathon - Raising Money For CALM

Lower Halstow's Linda Garrett will be running The Saxon Shore Half Marathon from Herne Bay to Whitstable on Sunday 14th June 2020, in memory of her late brother Jeff who sadly took his own life in Septemeber 2016, and to raise money for CALM, a charity now close to her own heart.

The Campaign Against Living Miserably (CALM) is leading the movement against suicide, the single biggest killer of men under 45 in the UK and the cause of 18 deaths every day.

The charity runs a FREE and confidential helpline and webchat - 7 hours a day, 7 days a week for anyone who needs to talk about life’s problems. They also support those bereaved by suicide.

CALM is not just for men, anyone needing support can call their Helpline 0800 58 58 58

Please read Linda's story on JustGiving >> www.justgiving.com/fundraising/linda-garrett2 and if you can, please donate towards her £500 target for this very worthy cause.

Thank you

Remember to Gift Aid!

Good luck Linda 🤞🏼
