Beat the cold weather with free salt for your drive and pathways.
Swale Borough Council is giving away free bags of salt this weekend for residents who want to grit their drives and pathways this winter.
Timed to coincide with the drop-in temperature this time of year, the council will be repeating its previous success by handing out the free sacks of salt across the borough.
Residents can collect their free 10kg bag this Saturday between 10am-2pm at:
• Rose Street car park in Sheerness
• Forum car park in Sittingbourne
• Central car park in Faversham.
Martyn Cassell, head of commissioning, environment and leisure at the council, said:
“Colder mornings and darker evenings can make everyday tasks like getting the kids into the car for school or putting the bins out much more difficult, especially for those with mobility issues.
Potential icy patches can cause a slip hazard so we’re happy to help residents remain safe this winter.
While Kent Highways are responsible for gritting our roads, we recognise the benefits of residents being able to do their bit and help out others in their local area.
Last year we gave away 1,300 10kg bags of salt to residents across the borough to help them keep their drives and pathways clear in the colder weather.”
Supplies are limited to one sack per person, and are available on a first come, first served basis.
