Please Complete The Kent and Medway STP Survey to Help Them Improve Cancer Care

The Kent and Medway Sustainability and Transformation Partnership

The NHS, social care and public health in Kent and Medway are working together to plan how they will transform health and social care services to meet the changing needs of local people.

The Kent and Medway Sustainability and Transformation Partnership has been set up by local health and care leaders. They are focussed on how best to encourage and support better health and well-being, and provide improved and sustainable health and care services, for the population of Kent and Medway.

The Partnership is a collaboration of all NHS organisations across Kent and Medway, Kent County Council and Medway Council, all of whom are involved in the planning, provision and delivery of health and social care services in this area. The Partnership oversees the development of the health and care sustainability and transformation plan for Kent and Medway.

The plan aims for a radical transformation in the people of Kent and Medway’s health and wellbeing, the quality of the care they receive, and the sustainability of the system.

Their ambition is to put local people at the heart of services, helping people to stay well and independent in their own homes and communities and avoid being admitted to hospital.

What do you think of cancer care in Kent and Medway?

The NHS Long Term Plan, published in January 2019, made a commitment to improving cancer care, diagnosis and survival rates by 2028.

The Kent and Medway STP is working hard to improve cancer services in Kent and Medway. They also want to make sure the people helping someone through cancer diagnosis and treatment feel supported.

If you have had cancer, have cared for someone who has had cancer or have been invited to take a routine screening test for cancer, they would be grateful if you could complete their survey and tell them what you think of their plans to improve cancer care.

Please complete the survey at: www.surveymonkey.co.uk/r/K8D5TY8

Or download the easy read survey at: www.kentandmedway.nhs.uk/download/6802

If you have any questions or would prefer to complete a paper version of the survey, please Email: comms.kentandmedway@nhs.net

The survey closes on Friday 13th September 2019.

Swale Borough Council - Environment Grants Scheme Reopens

Local environmental projects could get a £5,000 boost from the proceeds of litter fines.

Swale Borough Council has reopened its environment grant scheme, to support community projects and organisations that help deliver on environmental objectives.

The £15,000 fund is paid for from the income from littering and fly-tipping fixed penalty notices.

This is the second time the fund has been open, and the previous scheme offered up to £1,000 per project from a pot of £5,000. This paid for projects such as beach cleans, wildlife surveys, litter bins, planters and supporting and waste education schemes for children.

Cllr Tim Valentine, cabinet member for environment at the council, said:

“Whilst we’d obviously prefer people not to drop litter or fly-tip waste, it’s satisfying that the extra money we receive from the fixed penalty notices is used to help improve the local environment.

I’m pleased that we are able to announce that the budget available for Environment Grants has been increased to £15,000, and the maximum application has been increased to £5,000.

In June the council declared a climate and ecological emergency. Making space for nature is priority of our action plan. We want the money to help local community groups or charities improve the local environment in some way, and I’m looking forward to seeing what projects we can support.”

The maximum grant for any one project is £5,000 and only one application can be submitted by an organisation in each financial year.

The scheme is open until 28th February 2020, and application forms and guidance notes are available at: www.swale.gov.uk/environment-grants
