Newington History Group
Most people living in Newington, Upchurch and Lower Halstow know that the villages were once major centres of brickmaking, but fewer know details of the industry, why it flourished here and why it declined.
Dave Burton will talk about the villages' brickfields at Newington History Group's meeting on Thursday, March 14th at 7:30pm.
The group, which meets on the second Thursday of the month in the Methodist Hall, Church Lane, seeks to unearth, record, preserve and promote the history of the village and neighbouring areas. Annual subscription is £15 and guests (£3) are welcome.
