Temporary Road Closure - Breach Lane, Lower Halstow
Breach Lane will be closed at the Lower Halstow end of the road from the 17th to the 19th July to effect repairs to recent damage to the embankment supporting the carriageway after an RTC.
The works involve the removal of a section of loose material which forms the bank and replacement with a concrete bagged wall system to support and retain the carriageway. Some localised carriageway surface repair work will also be undertaken at this time. The road will be fully closed from the double bends as you come out of Lower Halstow (just past Westfield Cottages) for a distance of 100 metres. The diversion route will be: The Street - Halstow Lane - Forge Lane - The Street – Oak Lane - London Road. For details of roadworks, please see: www.kent.roadworks.org

CBeebies Star's Support for Newington Village Festival
Television celebrity Phil Gallagher has given his support to this Saturday's (July 15th) Newington Village Festival, one of the largest events of its kind in Swale, on the school field from noon until 6:00pm.
The presenter of the CBeebies hit show Mister Maker has sent prizes for the children's fancy dress competition and an exclusive video message which has been posted on YouTube.
Phil, who is touring his Mister Maker show across the UK at present, says: "I hope you have lots of fun at the festival and in the fancy dress competition - maybe some of you will dress up as Mister Maker!" The fancy dress is free and there's a gift for all entrants.
The festival, organised by the parish council in conjunction with Demelza, also features five top Kent bands, including Elton John tribute band Jamie and the Jets.
Other attractions include: a children's magician, tug-of-war, dance and gymnastics displays, chainsaw carver, birds of prey, classic cars, fairground, sideshows, crafts and hobbies stalls, and The Village, a community area. Refreshments include real ales, BBQ, curries, ices and a tea tent.
Admission is £2, with under 16s free.
For tug-of-war details contact: sepr@hotmail.co.uk or call: 07719 942782.
